Do you offer free shipping?

As of 2022, our carriers have implemented increased rates due to rising fuel costs. They have also raised shipping prices three time this year alone.

As a small business, we are unable to absorb shipping costs associated with doing business online. For all orders shipped to the contiguous United States – you pay a flat rate of either $10.99 or $14.99 for ground shipping, per address. This flat-rate shipping charge is intended to cover and offset the costs incurred to process, prepare, and transport your order right to your doorstep.

We do not profit on shipping. We don’t even cover our shipping and packaging costs in most cases.

While much larger and established corporations can offer free shipping; and it is a great marketing tool and conversion strategy to incentivize customers into making a purchase, much smaller companies like ours have not reached the stage where we could financially do so without it impacting our bottom line. We have tried before.

We sell products that are packed in glass jars which while more sustainable, they also require extra packaging and safety measures to ensure that they arrive to your door in one piece. Hopefully, with your support we will get to a place of better negotiating power  with our partner carriers.

Additionally, we craft super premiun, high quality products and would never want to choose between either maintaing product integrity or cutting corners in order to offer free shipping. We hope you will keep this in mind and not be put off or deterred by the shipping cost we have to charge to continue making these awesome products and stay in business.

Is there a quantity limit for flat-rate shipping?The sky is the limit. As long as the entire order is shipping to one address, you can order as little as 2 jars (our minimum requirement) or a case of 12 — and you still pay one flat delivery rate. Stock up on your favorites!

When will my order arrive?Packages typically arrive within 3 to 7 business days after being shipped – this does not include handling. Please allow 3-4 days for handling. During extremely high demand periods such as national press mentions, public figure endorsements and the holiday season, all online will require 7-14 business days for processing after the order has been placed.  If you need your order to arrive quicker, you can choose to upgrade to our guaranteed 1 or 2 business day service by sending an email to orders@kitchensofafrica.com with your request.
